Eureka grad signs 2-year deal with Chiefs
KANSAS CITY - Eureka High School graduate Andy Studebaker has signed a two-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs and could be in uniform for Sunday?s game against Buffalo.
Studebaker was drafted in the sixth round out of Wheaton College by Philadelphia as a linebacker and has spent the entire season on the Eagles? practice squad.
The Chiefs plan to use the 6-foot-3, 248-pound Studebaker as a defensive end, the position he played at Wheaton.
Studebaker would become the first Wheaton player to play in an NFLgame.
Alabama St. center?s name has some kick
Illinois State basketball players probably will never forget Alabama State?s 7-foot-1, 265-pound center after today?s game against Alabama State in the SMU Tip-Off Classic in Dallas.
Not when his name is Chief Kickingstallionsims.
No wonder Sports Illustrated tabbed him with "the best name in college sports."
"He?s humongous," ISU coach Tim Jankovich said.
Kickingstallionsims is a transfer from Stetson University and went to high school in Boynton Beach, Fla.
Browns GM sorry for e-mail expletive
BEREA, Ohio (AP) - Cleveland Browns general manager Phil Savage has apologized to a fan whom he sent a profane e-mail to following Monday night?s game against the Buffalo Bills .
Savage used an expletive in his response to the fan, who criticized the GM in several e-mail exchanges.
"It happened after the game," Savage said in an e-mail to The Associated Press. "There had been previous e-mails from him over the months and enough was enough. We have both apologized to each other since. The Browns? fans have overwhelmingly been supportive of me over the past 3-plus seasons and I appreciate that greatly."
The fan, without revealing his name, spoke on WKNR radio in Cleveland on Thursday and said he had been badgering Savage throughout the game.
Quotable
