Phil Dawson kicked two field goals and Anderson completed 17 of 28 passes, including a 22-yard scoring pass to Darnell Dinkins as Cleveland sought its first Monday night victory since 1993.

The Browns' fired-up defense twice intercepted Giants quarterback Eli Manning, whose 22-yard TD pass to Plaxico Burress 12 seconds before halftime got New York within 17-14.

Brandon McDonald picked off a poorly thrown long pass by Manning on the Giants' first possession of the second half. Jerome Harrison's 33-yard run on a reverse put Dawson in position for a 26-yard field goal and 20-14 lead.

Two long passes from Anderson to Braylon Edwards led to first-half scores.

Edwards went 49 yards with a short pass to set up Dawson's 28-yard field goal in the first quarter. After the Giants went ahead, Anderson found a wide-open Edwards for a 70-yard play to set up a 4-yard TD run by Jamal Lewis.

Edwards had charged up an already enthusiastic crowd by doing a cartwheel rounded off to a back flip during pregame introductions.

On Cleveland's third play from scrimmage, Edwards took a slant pass and raced through the Giants' secondary to the New York 25. The drive stalled and Dawson connected from 28 yards for a 3-0 lead. Dawson later missed from 51 yards in the first quarter dominated by Cleveland.

New York took a 7-3 lead early in the second quarter as Brandon Jacobs ran 7 yards around left end. That capped a six-play, 58-yard drive that began with a 24-yard pass over the middle from Manning to Kevin Boss.

Cleveland regained the lead in three plays and 59 seconds on Edwards' 70-yard reception, an incomplete pass, and Lewis' TD run.

Manning drove the Giants into Cleveland territory on their first possession, but was intercepted by Brodney Pool on an overthrow intended for Burress, back in New York's lineup after a one-game suspension for violating a team rule.

The Giants got a huge break in the final seconds of the second quarter when Cleveland's Mike Adams was called for illegal contact on a play in which the Browns recovered a fumble by Manning.

Three plays later, Manning lofted a 3-yard TD pass to Burress.

Cleveland played without Pro Bowl tight end Kellen Winslow, hospitalized three nights with an undisclosed illness and released from the hospital Sunday, was unavailable but Cleveland had two key players healthy for the first time this season. Wide receiver Donte' Stallworth, one of the Browns' top free-agent signings, had a leg injury and right tackle Ryan Tucker underwent hip surgery in May.

The Giants came in seeking to extend an 11-game road winning streak (12 counting the neutral site Super Bowl). New York averaged 31.7 points in its first four wins.

Cleveland, coming off its bye week, averaged 11.5 points in going 1-3.

Browns fans were hoping for a repeat of the NFL's first primetime Monday game on Sept. 21, 1970, when Cleveland defeated the defending Super Bowl champions from New York. That night, the Browns beat Joe Namath and the New York Jets, 31-21.

But Cleveland was winless on Monday night since 1993 and 0-4 against the Giants since its last win over New York in 1985.
