A cold war between Coach Eric Mangini and Pro Bowl nose tackle Shaun Rogers seems to be thawing.

Rogers is shown greeting teammates before working out at the team training complex in video released by the Browns Tuesday. Also in the video are quarterbacks Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn plus center Hank Fraley.

Until making the video the Browns have been very secretive about who is working out. Including Rogers in the footage is an indication Rogers might be mellowing in his stance against the Browns. He recently asked to be traded or released because the Browns ordered him to be at a prescribed weight for the offseason program and because Mangini did not introduce himself to Rogers on two separate occasions.

Mangini was not in Berea when Rogers appeared for the first time this winter. He was attending the NFL owners meetings in California along with other coaches and general managers.

Coach Eric Mangini is using free agency to make sure the Browns have quality depth, primarily on defense. For example, they could have re-signed cornerbacks Daven Holly and/or Travis Daniels. Instead they signed Hank Poteat and Corey Ivy.

They looked for depth and versatility on the offensive line instead of big ticket players such as LeCharles Bentley, Kevin Shaffer and Eric Steinbach -- three player signed by former general manager Phil Savage. The original contracts of those three players combined totaled $121 million.

Tackle John St. Clair signed a three-year contract for $9 million. Guard Floyd Womack signed for $2 million over two years.

1. Outside linebacker: Establishing a pass rush opponents have to reckon with has to be a priority after getting just 17 sacks last season. Coach Eric Mangini says improving the pass rush includes better coverage in the secondary, but the Browns don't have a starting left outside linebacker because they released Antwan Peek and Willie McGinest, a free agent, is likely to retire.

2. Safety: The Browns need a starting safety. They have not addressed that need in free agency, unless they think re-signing Mike Adams is the answer. They could be thinking of using the fifth pick in the draft on Malcolm Jenkins from Ohio State.

3. Running back: Wide receiver was a priority until the Browns signed 35-year-old David Patten. They still might take one on the second day of the draft. The same holds true for running back as they look to groom a replacement for Jamal Lewis. Like every team they would like to find a Terrell Davis in the sixth round.
