Giants, Redskins meet in NFC East tilt

Giants, Redskins meet in NFC East tilt
Sunday

49ers at Bills

Time:

11 a.m.

Line:

Bills by 7

Synopsis:

SF's in free fall, with only 1 victory in its last 8 games -- and that was over the woeful Rams. The offense, which was clicking early in the season, now ranks No. 22 and although QB Shaun Hill has shown toughness since replacing benched J.T. O'Sullivan, he is turnover-prone. Buffalo broke a 4-game losing streak with a 54-point outburst last week in KC.

Pick:

Bills 29, 49ers 17.

Saints at Bucs

Time:

11 a.m.

Line:

Buccaneers by 4

Synopsis:

New Orleans comes off its big win at home over Green Bay, but that was at home and now it goes on the road, where it's 1-4. Saints have the top-rated offense. But it generated just 7 points the last time it was on the road vs. a formidable defense (Carolina) and now faces the 2nd-rated pass defense.

Pick:

Buccaneers 23, Saints 17.

Panthers at Packers

Time:

11 a.m.

Line:

Packers by 3

Synopsis:

Green Bay tries to rebound from its pounding in New Orleans, but coming home is no sure thing as the Pack is just 2-3 at Lambeau. Carolina likes to grind it out, and stopping the ground game is a Packers bugaboo -- they rank No. 26 vs. the run. Carolina's DeAngelo Williams has 4 100-yard rushing games in a row, with 5 TDs.

Pick:

Packers 23, Panthers 17.

Giants at Redskins

Time/TV:

11 a.m., KDVR (Fox)

Line:

Giants by 3?

Synopsis:

NY keeps rolling, with 6 victories in a row following a clunker in Cleveland and leads the NFL in scoring and rushing and is expected to get RB Bran

don Jacobs back from a knee ailment that sidelined him last week but is minus WR Plaxico Burress (hamstring). .

Pick:

Giants 27, Redskins 16.

Dolphins at Rams

Time:

11 a.m.

Line:

Dolphins by 8 ?

Synopsis:

Miami will try to jump out early, as the Rams have been outscored 123-13 in the first halves of their last 4 outings, and the Rams' last-ranked defense should have trouble with the Dolphins' tricky wildcat formation.

Pick:

Dolphins 20, Rams 16.

Ravens at Bengals

Time:

11 a.m.

Line:

Ravens by 7

Synopsis:

Baltimore has won 5 of 6, has the NFL's 2nd-ranked defense and faces a team that has 1 victory, the NFL's worst offense and 21st-ranked defense. Can you say mismatch? However, Baltimore rookie QB Joe Flacco has thrown for 200 yards just twice in the last 6 games.

Pick:

Ravens 20, Bengals 10.

Colts at Browns

Time/TV:

11 a.m., KCNC (4)

Line:

Colts by 5

Synopsis:

Indy's won 4 in a row to get back in the playoff

chase and now faces a team that goes back to QB Derek Anderson, who was benched earlier in favor of Brady Quinn -- who now is done for the year (broken finger).

Pick:

Colts 24, Browns 16.

Falcons at Chargers

Time:

2:05 p.m.

Line:

Chargers by 4

Synopsis:

Both teams are surprises, for opposite reasons. Atlanta is in playoff contention because of the standout play of rookie QB Matt Ryan and the league's No. 2 ground game, led by Michael Turner. Look for more throwing than usual because San Diego is last in the NFL vs. the pass.

Pick:

Falcons 30, Chargers 26.

Steelers at Patriots

Time:

2:15 p.m.

Line:

Patriots by 1

Synopsis:

A dandy, as 2 of the AFC's elite meet. New England QB Matt Cassel is on a roll (two 400-yard passing games in a row) but operates in this one vs. the league's top pass defense and top overall defense, too. But Pittsburgh will need to generate some offense, and the Steelers are just 23rd in the league in yardage.

Pick:

Patriots 23, Steelers 17.

Chiefs at Raiders

Time:

2:15 p.m.

Line:

Raiders by 3

Synopsis:

Yuck. The dog of the day, as these teams are a combined 4-18. KC has just 1 of those victories, gave up 54 points at home to Buffalo last week and is last in the league in defense. Turnover-plagued QB Tyler Thigpen faces Oakland's defense, which held Denver to 10 points in an upset Raiders victory last week.

Pick:

Raiders 20, Chiefs 13.

Broncos at Jets

Time/TV:

2:15 p.m., KCNC (4)

Line:

Jets by 7?

Synopsis:

Denver's defense is a mess, ranking 25th or worse in all four major categories and now faces the Brett Favre-led onslaught (nearly 30 points per game) that manhandled previously unbeaten Tennessee last week. Denver's won 2 in a row on the road, but the Broncos were crushed at home last week by lowly Oakland and figure to have a rough time here.

Pick:

Jets 33, Broncos 20.

Bears at Vikings

Time/TV:

6:20 p.m., KUSA (9)

Line:

Vikings by 3

Synopsis:

Chicago plays its 3rd straight road game, a monumental disadvantage, and faces a team that needs this one badly. Minnesota already has lost to Chicago and a second defeat to the team would give the Bears the tiebreaker advantage and a deadlock atop the NFC North standings is a distinct possibility.

Pick:

Vikings 21, Bears 17.

Monday

Jaguars at Texans

Time/TV:

6:40 p.m., ESPN

Line:

Texans by 3

Synopsis:

A prime-time dud, as the bottom 2 teams in the AFC South meet. Jacksonville's trademark running game has fizzled, ranking only 17th after finishing No. 2 last year, but operates here vs. an injury-depleted defense.

Pick:

Texans 27, Jaguars 17.
