Otherwise, the Cleveland franchise would be the front-runner for the league's most pathetic. Some in Oakland might argue with that assessment, but no reasonable person would dispute that it would be hard to find an organization in all of professional sports that has compiled a more dismal record of performance than the reborn Browns.

That a phenomenal fan base continues to support this franchise is nothing short of a miracle. When the current season ends - and that can't happen soon enough - the Browns will have played a grand total of one playoff game in the 10 years since their return to the NFL. As we've said before, this isn't what the fans deserved or expected when they forced the league to give back the franchise stolen from them in 1995.

If team owner Randy Lerner can't hire the right people to fix this colossal mess, he should sell the team to someone who can.
